Hear from keynote speaker\, Duane De Freese\, Executive Director of the Indian River Lagoon Council.Duane serves as Governor-appointed member of the Board of Directors of CareerSource FL (appointment by former Governor Rick Scott) and a member of the Florida Harmful Algal Bloom Task Force (appointment by Governor Ron DeSantis). He serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Ocean Alliance\, the Association of National Estuary Programs\, Advisory Board for the Southeast and Caribbean Disaster Resilience Partnership\, and Legacy Campaign Cabinet Member for the Brevard Zoo Aquarium Project. In 2020\, Dr. De Freese was recognized by Lead Brevard with the Rodney S. Ketcham Leadership Icon Award. In 2022 Duane was recognized by Junior Achievement SpaceCoast as a 2022 JA Business Hall of Fame Laureate. Also in 2022\, Duane was a nominee in the culture section for the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame.Duane has published numerous scientific articles and has been honored with many awards of recognition during his career. He is an avid surfer and waterman.
